Frequently Asked Questions
Microblading is a form of semi-permanent makeup, also referred to as cosmetic tattooing, micro-pigmentation, eyebrow embroidery, feather brows or 3D brows. It is the procedure of placing colour into the dermal layer of the skin. Pigment is implanted using tiny needles to mimic hair where it is lacking in eyebrows or scalp. Tiny strokes of colour are created to resemble fine hairs that create a more desirable brow shape.
Microblading typically lasts for 12-18 months. In the beginning, the color will be significantly more vivid or darker compared to the final look when healing is complete. When the brows are completely healed, the color will look softer and more natural. The microblading is semi-permanent and will have to be touched up approximately one year later. The pigment may fade from exposure to the sun so sunscreen must be worn to avoid premature fading.
Some clients describe feeling minimal pain and discomfort comparable to threading or waxing; while others report feeling barely any pain at all. Numbing cream is applied before the procedure and can be applied after the skin is broken if you are experiencing discomfort. Please speak up if you are experiencing a high level of discomfort during the procedure.
Three hours on average. During your appointment we will consult with you the entire time ensuring we are on the same page. Much of the time is spent measuring and drawing on a symmetrical set of brows and agreeing on your perfect shape and color. The actual procedure itself takes 30min to an hour. The touch-up appointment will take about an hour and a half.
Microblading is not suitable for the following candidates:
- Using Accutane
- Have heart conditions or using heart medications
- Have diabetes (will require a physician’s note)
- Have skin disease or irritations
- Have had Botox in the last 2 weeks
- Have gotten a deep tan or chemical peels in the last 2 weeks
- Allergic to lidocaine, prilocaine, benzocaine, tetracaine or epinephrine
- Anyone who has any serious medical conditions may require a physician’s note.
- Pregnant or nursing clients who want to microblade can be done at your own discretion. We suggest discussing with your doctor first. Microblading is still considered a tattoo, and just like with wine or sushi consumption, it is a personal choice to do so during this period.
* We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone who we deem not suitable for this procedure or for any other reason. Our brow technicians make the decision to microblade an individual based on their own discretion. *
The eyebrow area will be slightly red after the procedure and color will appear very dark. This is normal for the procedure and part of the healing process. The color will fade by up to 40% as it heals. In the following days, the eyebrows will continue to be dark and you will notice slight scabbing. Do not pick at the scabs as this may damage the skin and the outcome of the microbladed area. The eyebrows will lighten up in color as it heals. No down time is required after microblading procedure. It takes approximately 7-14 days for the brows to heal over, and about 1 month for the color to fully set in. You’ll notice the color is very light right after the two weeks after healing; the skin will have an opaque milky looking quality to it. This is known as the milk skin and is common in tattooing. This is due to the the tissue still healing from the inside out even though the surface of the skin is healed. True color will reveal itself once healed.

No, we want to work with as much of the existing hair as possible. Once we finish drawing your brow shape using the golden ratio method, we will ask you for permission to remove (tweeze) any hair outside of the agreed shape.
Do not drink alcohol, ibuprofen or caffeine 24 hours before your appointment. This can cause excessive bleeding.
You can wear makeup to the appointment if you prefer. All makeup will be removed from your brows before we start.
Women should not book their appointment during their menstrual cycle as the body is more sensitive during this time causing the procedure to be more painful.
After your initial appointment, your eyebrows might look slightly swollen or red and feel sore. In the first 2-3 days after your first appointment, your skin will scab lightly and feel somewhat tight. Do not rub or scratch your brows while they are healing or you could remove some of the pigment too soon. As the skin heals, your eyebrows will seem lighter but the pigment will show again after a few weeks.
The second appointment is an essential part of the microblading process and is used as a touch up session. The appointment is necessary to make finishing touches such as color adjustments or changes to the shape. Also, more hair strokes may be added if necessary. Do not skip the second appointment. If you do not come for your touch up session, you will not achieve the full effect of the microblading.
Yes! A touch up session after 4-6 weeks is necessary as everyone heals differently and outcome will vary. Certain areas may not pick up during first session and will need to be refilled. Pigment color may need to be adjusted, brow thickness and more strokes can be added. Individuals with oily skin often require a deeper shade during the touch up session as the oils tend to lighten the pigment. Most importantly, your touch up session is when we refine your brows to ensure it looks perfect and retains the color for the whole year!
As with all cosmetic procedures, individuals should not make their choices lightly. We always recommend clients do their research, understand the procedure and compare different artists’ work and portfolio when making their decisions. Our brow technicians will do their utmost to shape and style the eyebrows to the clients satisfaction prior to the procedure. Every effort will be made to achieve an even appearance, but please realize our faces are never perfectly symmetrical. Uneven appearance can be fixed during the touch up session. Pigment discoloration and color correction can also be fixed during the the touch up session. Microbladed brows will eventually fade away if no additional touch ups are done.
Microblading can be done over an existing brow tattoo, however the old tattoo must be significantly faded for the hair strokes to show through and look natural. Please advise if you have an existing tattoo and submit a picture to determine if you are a candidate for this procedure.
To ensure the highest quality of safety, all of our tools are one time use only. ALL blades, hand tools, wipes, and any other product used during the procedure are disposed of as biohazardous waste after each appointment, giving each client peace of mind.
